Round corners bend smoothly,
meld walls into side stone archways
Zen touched.
Colours muted by winter's touch
sail dreamlike carriages
clippity - clopping in midday
through quiet streets
with mums for sale.
He watches through scarf wrapped eyes
wearing fingerless gloves.
The world of those who live
on Xavier Street.

Thank you Arlee.
DeleteYou are an artist! You paint with words and you do it so beautifully. Just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh that is a kind thing for you to say, I do love words, and painting pictures with them is part of the timeless wonder of some of my favorite authors/poets, so this compliment is a treasure.
DeleteYou put me there--very descriptive. I can envision Xavier Street from where I sit ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! :-) Thank you Jenn.
DeleteYou write beautifully. Vivid imagery. I like it.

Thank you Luna.
DeleteReading the words, seeing each one clearly, I am reminded of our Mackinac Island. There are no motor vehicle permitted on the island so all transport is horse back, horse and carriage or foot. Boats bring you there and take you back to reality, but while on the island you are in the picture you painted above. ♥
ReplyDeleteOh then I will have to add that to places to see on my bucket list for certain. I love stepping into a fairytale.
DeleteOh, I forgot, you can bike all over as well! It's at it's most beautiful in early June,,,the lilacs bloom on the island and it is covered with lilacs. All summer it is full of beauty, but I do love the early lilac season most. This year could be different, our lilacs downstate are done already. Mine frosted and I had none. Very sad for me.
DeleteOh bummer... I love lilacs. Ours has buds on it, but it's not blooming yet. That sounds like a beautiful place Jo. :-)
DeleteWhat a lovely time period and place.
