Sun Steps~
Sunshine steps on parched fields
with heavy heel,
denied nourishing droplets
of cloud-kissed rain,
the surface becomes hard,
impenetrable,
unyielding.
The earth, much like the
human heart,
craves the moisture of love
to replenish,
to soften,
to nurture the soil.

Thank you Arlee :-)
Deletelove, love, love the heavy heel imagery. perfect.
ReplyDeleteNo, you didn't read the catipillar post before -- you're thinking of the C for centipede -- Ryan was dramatic then too:))
Ahhhhh that's right, I knew you were the squish bandit in something other than this one... LOL, poor mom, you are now the "heavy heel" of the law on bugs. :-)
DeleteI'm glad you enjoy this one, it's actually one that makes me smile when I read it, so I must like it too. Sometimes the words fly off my fingertips so quickly that it's not until the fourth or fifth read that I even know if I like it or not. Odd hmmm?
Thanks for coming by Sandra. Do you know what kind of caterpillar would be purple with black on it? I have never seen such a critter, and it sounds fascinating.
Beautiful!Very visual.
ReplyDeleteThank you Emma, it's nice of you to stop in for a visit:-)
DeleteLove the imagery of this one with the earth and the heart and the replenishment we all need/crave. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy, I like it when they are smooth like that. The connection between the earth, or Universe and us is most often apparent in relation to emotion.
DeleteVery nice! I like this one a lot. Great metaphor between hardened heart and hardened soil.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's nice when someone catches the subtleties ;-)
DeleteBeautiful imagery!!

Thank you Kathy :-)
DeleteI do like this one, BUT it is the sun that keeps us and the earth warm so that when the moisture is added, there is a good environment for growth. My SUN is not meant to be all, just a most important part. ♥
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is Jo, and I am the Rain ;-) What a good combination we are! ♥♥♥
DeleteYou are a wordsmith!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you :-)
DeleteI so admire your poetry and have enjoyed following the A to Z posts.

Tracy, thank you for the kind words. I have been doing my best to keep up with the following, but that is not an easy feat. It has been very rewarding though.
