Understanding Rose~
I understand the rose...
Her simplistic beauty unfolds
from tightly gathered petals,
garnishing a secret
protected by thorns.
She offers places to put
calloused fingers.
Hold her, but not too tightly
carefully caress her beauty
carelessness will bruise
the tender colours of her heart.
Enjoy the fragrance
when warm winDs ruffle her
You will remember it
long after she is gone.
Yes, I understand the rose.

DeleteI understand the rose, too. The fragrance, the opening, the wilting and the fragrance remaining in my mind. Love my roses. There is no flower that calls to me louder than the delicate, yet lethal rose.

It is one of my favorites too Jo. I love the smell, and the look. Even after years of having to trim their prickly branches, I treasure them in my yard.
DeleteVery pretty, November Rain!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda:-)
DeleteI could almost smell the rose as I was reading. Very evocative.
ReplyDeleteI love the word evocative... but you didn't know that... or did you? ;-)
