Z ~Zenith-Mirrored Image

Zenith: Mirrored Image~

Contrast,

it started at the top of her head

where shades of autumn

covered winter skin

with firelight.

Moved down her face,

paused on cool eyes

that penetrated walls

lined with velvet lies

she looked right through them

right through me

inside

I could feel a squirm

like warm jello

in a cold dish.

Her small lips

spoke big words with ease

they seemed to roll off her tongue

and dangle like silver strands

in thin air.

I watched her closely

as time became the loud tick

of nagging things to do

to do...

The small handled mirror

came to rest on the counter

in a bed of reflections,

I have become.

  2. Lovely poem, although sad. You're reduced to a reflexion.

    1. Ah, but that IS what we are... reflections of the realities we cast upon ourselves. :-) Thank you Francene for enjoying the A-Z with me!

    1. I have really enjoyed your blog. I've been able to see a part of the countryside that I am not privy to (yet)... and one day I will be there... if only for awhile to write in the quiet spaces of lush green, and old memories. It's been a wonderful journey, and I am glad to have been able to share it with you.

  9. I think I might disagree with you about being reflections of the realities we cast upon ourselves.... yes, we are and can be, but we're not limited to this.. it's a choice, yes?

    1. It's always our choice. Limits are created by us, as are our own perceptions of reality. So the only limitations we have, are those we create, and the reflection is simply our perception of ourselves looking back at us.

      I hope that makes sense.

  10. This is beautiful yet haunting too. I'm sorry if I'm reading it wrong, but I keep feeling a certain pain - pain of being a had-been, a used-to-be.

    Awesome job as always.

    1. t I believe that poetry is much like the Universe, it speaks to different people in different tones. For me, the poem is about recognizing the transformation as it takes place, not a pain, or of something lost, but rather of insight gained. This is one of the most unpredictable poems I put up for the A-Z though... varied responses, thoughts, and emotions played out amongst those who read. In truth, isn't that what poetry is meant to do:relate, resonate, reveal, and tag emotion?

Thank you for reading and responding... :-)
