Reaching (Friday Fictioneers)

Friday Fictioneer's
…brought to you by: Rochelle Wisoff . Once a week a photo is submitted for inspiration and a group of writers accept the challenge of writing a 100 word story about it. The following picture was provided to us by David Stewart ©.

Reaching~

"My math instructor told me that anything was possible, I just had to reach for it and never give up" Kyle said.

Stacy continued to sculpt his form while he reached for tangent lines in intangible spaces. Harmony was created between the musical inspiration they agreed upon and the diametrically opposed methods they used to study with.

"You know this world is just an illusion, right Kyle?" Stacey said without looking up.

"So you say. What if it is real though; what if this is it Stacey?"

Stacey shook her head "That's what keeps us all going Kyle… what if?"

I am still struggling with the button for the linky linkup, but this URL will take you to the page that you need to link up with your own story or to read more of those who have participated. :-)

  5. I enjoyed this very much. Very clever of you to think of this in terms of diametrically opposed methods and reaching for something beyond. Great storytelling!

  8. Well, I'm going on the theory that it IS an illusion, so don't wake me until somebody figures it all out! Interesting story and concept ...

  9. If life is a dream where am I sleeping? Believable dialogue, K. As a visual artist I liked the way you set the scene with the sculptor as a backdrop for a profound conversation.

    1. Thank you Rochelle. I think that artists are a particularly important component for the personal interactions we have with the world. Mathematicians are artists of another flavour.

  11. sorry. i had written out a decent comment and suggestion, but this site erased it when i had to go through all the steps to leave the comment, and i just don't feel like copying and pasting the lines from the story in order to detail it all again. anyway, well done.

    1. Well thank you any way. I am not sure what you mean by "this site erased it when I had to go through all the steps to leave the comment" though, to the best of my knowledge there only three, hit "reply", write, and hit "publish".

      Thanks!
