Fairy Dust Dreams (Friday Fictioneers)

Friday Fictioneers is a group of writers who enjoy a good challenge. Each Wednesday a photo is shared, and used as the prompt for writing. You can find the image on Facebook at the Friday Fictioneer's page, or you can visit Rochelle Wiseoffs blog for instruction.

Here's what Rochelle says:
THE CHALLENGE:
Write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and end.
(No one will be ostracized for going over or under the word count.)

THE KEY:
Make every word count.

 Fairy Dust Dreams~

"You got the dust Bailey?"

"Yeah. I put it in my marble bag so I wouldn't lose it." Bailey held the bag up to show Digger.

"Put it in yer pocket! If you dropped it now we aint never gonna get it back." Digger looked over the banister to see how far they had climbed.

"Okay Digger, where's the words we are sposed to say?"

"Right here." Digger held the note and smiled, showing the space where his front tooth was missing.

"Ready?"

"You sure we're high enough Digger?"

"Yep, just start sprinkling that dust while I'm readin' the words."

Catch up with the rest of the Friday Fictioneers here! (or add your submission to the mix :-)

  1. Good story. I know what you mean by making every word count. I hate reading unneeded words.

  2. I hope they're up high enough. They seem to be winging it a bit. I enjoyed the dialogue.

    1. Thank you. This prompt made me want to write the whole story... which made it a little difficult to chop down to a bite size segment.

  3. And that was all in the title! I would never have known what they were on about, but with the title it became a tale with quite a bit of charm.

    1. Thank you Linda. I had to do it that way... there were, after all, only one hundred words. :-)

    1. They are on a mission. The kind of mission that only two boys their age can attempt with a lack of fear and a bag full of fairy dust. ;-)

  9. I hope you write the whole story. It sounds like a fun read. I don't think they have mischief in mind but fairy dust is fickle thing :)

    1. It is inspiring, and likes to dance through my head with their little boy feet and dirty hands. :-) Perhaps I will.

  10. Oh, this is NOT going to end well...I predict Digger breaking more teeth, among other things

    1. Heheheh... more than likely there is a reason that the first one missing was revealed. You are such a smart cookie! :-) Thanks for reading Carrie.

    1. Do you remember when it wasn't considered to be daring at all? When it was just the way in which we ventured into life?

      Thank you for reading.

  14. One has to wonder what kind of fairy dust two little boys would have in their possession. That alone fires the imagination. Cute.

  15. These two little boys have an adventure ahead of them, I just hope it's not one to the hospital. Is that fairy dust real?!

    1. They sure think it's real. Given the power of the mind, perhaps it will work for them. :-)
