Wind Beneath My Wings (BFF 159)

After careful consideration I have determined that it is better to post and move forward, than to allow this particular BFF prompt to stall me.

It's not a person, or a particular place that lifts me, it is nature. The wind, rain, snow, sunshine, and all of the creatures both large and small, allow me to continue to grow, learn, change, and move forward.

It is the warmth of the sun on my face after a long stretch of cold internal days, that brings me to a higher place. It is the rain that soothes my soul, and comforts me when things begin to move too swiftly. It is the snow that stills my movement, long enough for me to find direction in my life. The wind brushes my cheek, like the hand of a lover, and makes me smile.

Rainbows are like whispers, soft, gentle, and temporary; they provide a wonderful backdrop for gratitude.

Nature... is the wind beneath my wings.

  1. Nature is wonderful. So energetic, yet so serene.

  2. I love nature too. I can sit and stare at the wonders of nature all the time. I love changing seasons too, the bright colors of fall, the bareness of winter, the bright newness of green in spring, and the sunshiny days of summer. Every season holds something special. :)

    1. Sounds like you might enjoy the romps I take for photo coverage through each of the seasons. I learned something last year about the changing colours of the leaves, the green that we see IS the change, the natural colours are the reds and golds. It was an interesting thing to learn, to think of the changes as the greens... I wish I could explain it better, but this is still my first cup of coffee! :-)

  3. Oh yes, November, I feel the same. I have the heart and soul of a lighthouse keeper. Just give me the solitude to enjoy the raw edge of nature.

    1. Awesome to hear. After I read several of the entries, it almost made me feel sad to think about trying to fit a person into that spot for me. Then I got past that part and realized that my strength has never been focused on a human being. It was after I let that go, that I could consider what really was/is the wind beneath my wings. Thanks Diva!

  4. I thought about this for a second.. I am not a nature girl, at all. I like room service and frilly things. Having said that, if I go too many months without sitting at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, I die. The extent of my nature.. is OK, sitting at the edge of the ocean with a cup of coffee listening to the waves. I do love the drive from LA to Santa Fe, New Mexico, there is something majestic about the desert, but.. don't ask me to go camping or to find passion in a sunrise if I have had to sleep in a tent. Please don't hold this against me.. I do have other attributes. :-)

    1. Understandable Brenda, I like to enjoy room service, and some of the finer things in life too. But my spirit, and where I gain my strength, rejuvenate, and listen to the quiet is done outdoors.

Hold it against you? Not a chance! I would be willing to bet you have many wonderful attributes :-) (and hey you won't fight with me over the tent!) ;-)

    1. Thank you Darlene. When I lived in Montana, that was one of the things I enjoyed so much about it. The sky really IS THAT big, and no matter where I was, nature was there with me. The winters that last for months on end were a little much, but even that I got used to enough to enjoy midnight walks on fresh snow.
