Bed of Nails (100 Word Song)

100 Word Song

Lance and Leeroy let Raquel pick this week's inspiration, and she chose Ani Di Franco’s Cloud Blood. Anything you need to know about 100 word song and Leeroy is here: http://lancemyblogcanbeatupyourblog.wordpress.com/100-word-song/

I usually continue with the story about Lillie for the 100 Word Song challenge, but this week, the words you see below rolled out in a matter of seconds, and when I counted them up... they were exactly 100... now how can I argue with that? As for Lillie and Trevor, I will be posting something for that story later today.

Bed of Nails

How do I dignify those words you say
when you say you don't mean it.
Thought I'd found that "one forever"
like a needle in a bed of nails
Thought I'd found that "leave you never"
but you meant every word you'd say
and they changed from day to day
One day "I'll love you forever"
Another "I don't want you ever"
One day "You're my only baby"
Another "Sure, I meant maybe"
and how do I dignify those words you say
when they're changing day to day
like a needle in a bed
needle in a bed of nails.

  1. I miss LIllie and Trevor but this was excellent.

The last line says so many different things. Sadness, loneliness, regret, anger, and longing. You interpreted the song so well. Ani would like this, I think.

    1. Thank you m'Friend. It's out of character for me to write in first person, but this one just poured off my fingertips. It would be really kewl if Ani liked it... I have enjoyed her for many moons!

  2. You really captured the fickleness of a possible love. I agree with Lance - I like the line 'needle in a bed of nails'. I can SO picture that!
