The 100 Word Song Challenge
asks you to write 100 words (no more, no less) in whatever genre, or fashion
you are inspired to write in, using the song of the week to get you
there.
This
week's 100
Word Song challenge inspiration is Rise Against's - " Swing
Life Away" chosen for Lance and Leeroy by Dawn
Every-Day
Swingin' and swayin' it's part of their game.
There's no concrete bobbles, or giant billboards
no rush-hour traffic, or blaring car horns
Just a quiet hush-hushing that's part of the way
they fill their moments 'til the end of the day.
He'll hold her hand when her hair has no color
She'll cook his meals and slide under the covers
and both of them smile, one to the other
while they sit shucking peas on an old back porch swing
bound to each other with one small gold ring
For them, there's no other way,
it's part of their every-day.
fav part- "He'll hold her hand when her hair has no color" -
ReplyDeletemy wife and i talk a lot about what our life will be like when we're 80 something.
this is romance
It makes me smile to hear that you and Bobina talk about life after 80... there is something so special about those years shared, that it sometimes defies an explanation.
DeleteThank you for reading Lance.
Oh, this is quietly romantic and beautiful. My husband and I daydream about the time when we are both old and grey, more like, balding. :-))
ReplyDeleteBalding... hehehhe you made me laugh with that one Imelda. Thank you for taking the time to enjoy it :-)
Delete*sigh* This is just pure loveliness through and through.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteLove this - love how our minds (independently) went the same direction. I think it is a part of my (ever advancing) age that I focus on such myself. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, now I have to go see what you wrote! :-) Thank you.
DeleteDamn, how such words of peace can be delivered in such a bouncy, jangled fashion. You are a true talent m'dear, and this was a 100 well spent =]
ReplyDeleteThank you m'Friend, both for reading, and supplying me with endless encouragement :-)
Deletek, I'm always blown away by how you can describe something as complicated as a life long marriage in only 100 words so well.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the challenges of scrunching words into small bits, 33 for Trifecta, and 100 for Leeroy and Lance. It requires me to boil it down to the bones in my head, before I begin writing. It's nice that you can see the process with me. :-)
DeleteIt does my heart good to read so many wonderful tribute to long-lived long. I particularly liked this line, "bound to each other with one small gold ring."
ReplyDeleteThank you Tara. There really is a special feeling about people who have shared so many years together, it's fun to find a prompt pushing me in that direction.
DeleteWhat a beautiful piece. My folks just celebrated 50 years together and it made me think of them.
ReplyDeleteOh that's a wonderful thing to celebrate. Very heart warming. There was a couple, that I remember well, that had been married for over 60 years. When they would come into the dining area (they were in a retirement community) they would walk all the way down the hall, hand in hand. For their anniversaries and birthdays, they would decorate the table with candles, and sweet notes from one to the other. It was really something to see/feel.
DeleteThank you for visiting Victoria.
What an incredibly sweet tribute to love! This song is one of my all time favorites as far as sentiment goes, because it's true and real and honest.
ReplyDeleteI think I like your piece just as much as I like this song. It's sweet and honest, but you prettied it up a bit. It really shows how beautiful love can be.
"He'll hold her hand when her hair has no color" pretty much sums up what everybody wants, I believe. I love it!
Thank you Dawn, Your response made me smile again. The warmth that emits from a love story that lasts is a treasure. I'm glad this comes across that way for you :-)
DeleteSigh! I just love this! That's all. What a beautiful love story....
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie :-)
DeleteAnd this makes me think of another song...
ReplyDeleteWhen I get older, losing my hair
many years from now?
Will you still be sending me a valentine?
Birthay Greeting? Bottle of wine?
...
Will you still need me?
Will you still feed me?
When I'm sixty four?
Heheheh, how could I not recognize that one! :-)
