Lance at the 100 Word Song Challenge asks you to write 100 words
(no more, no less) in whatever genre, or fashion you are inspired to
write in, using the song of the week to get you there.
This week's 100 Word Song challenge inspiration is Billy Joel's "The Stranger"
The computer was left on in the family room, the bright
light from the monitor was the only light in the room.
"Why doesn't anyone in this house turn things off when
they are done with them?" she asked of no one.
As she started to turn the monitor off, she noticed that her
husband's email had been left open.
"It won't hurt to just look."
When she got to the part that explained why he was so
miserable, she started to cry.
"He makes me sound like a stranger, when it's really
him that's been a stranger to me."
gut punch
ReplyDeleteHow many couples can relate to this?
The last line says it all. What's inside him that he shared with someone is the stranger.
brilliant
I can imagine there are many that can, it's how they deal with it that really matters most.
DeleteThank you Lance, there is something about the way you say "brilliant" that makes me smile ;-)
Damn.
ReplyDeleteThat's all, as Lance captured the rest.
Thanks t. You know it would not be my nature to choose easy topics... most of the time.
DeleteSo real and so poignant.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tara.
Deletesneaking a peek never results in good things!!
ReplyDeleteI guess it could be... perhaps a peek would reveal that the person had nothing to worry about... then again, if the desire to peek is already there, there are trust issues brewing.
DeleteThanks for reading Carrie.
Sometimes the peek is needed for change. Agree with Lance on the gut punch.
ReplyDeletenodding softly I agree with you Debbie
DeleteI know, disaster follows when reading somebody's private writings. There is a reason it was kept from her. I am sad for her and her.
ReplyDeleteVery true indeed Imelda!
