Patron of the Stars (100 Word Song)

Lance at the 100 Word Song Challenge asks you to write 100 words (no more, no less) in whatever genre, or fashion you are inspired to write in, using the song of the week to get you there.

This week's 100 Word Song challenge inspiration is from Indigo Girls "Galileo"

Patron of the Stars

He studied motion and mathematics
had a different way of looking at the world
…it goes around us.

Taught until there was a lesson,
another lesson that he taught
one way pulled him into motion
another led him to the stars
…it shines within us

Stars aligned with his vision
an Aquarianistic view
He held the future in a moment
held on to his truth.
They yelled heretic.

Watching out the window
from another world
where the earth revolved around the sun
Copernican.
Hydrostatic balance and
the universal law of acceleration
Galileo Galilei
Planetary physicist, philosopher,
ahead of your time.

  2. This is wonderful. I love it. The mix of science and lyrical, artistic thought. "Aquarianistic view"! This child of February completely appreciated that. :)

  4. Wow, this is great. I especially love the last stanza - watching out the window from another world.... ahead of his time. Nice.

    1. Hi Stephanie, It's good to see nice comments for something that I've written, but it is especially nice when the cadence feels off to me, and others like it any way :-)

      Thank you.

  5. Very nice. Very lyrical and appropriate since inspiration is from a song.
