M ~ Mc Phearson Street

Mc Phearson Street~

He used to stand at the edge

of creation

watching the waves splash

against cold dark stone

til the sun was pale

streaks of orange and pink.

Shadow sky wrapped around it

in shades of midnight blue

and it became something new.

He used to listen to music

from an old jukebox

on the last block of Mc Phearson

where the postman would wait,

til old man Wilkerson

took his dog for a walk,

to deliver the mail.

The wind was always cold

and the coffee always hot

in the SideStreet Cafe'.

They called this hell,

He called it home.

That's my definition of midnight...love it in your words.
This is one of my favorites, well, so far!

    1. Anything that makes images dance through your head has to be a good, and happy thing... I am glad I was able to contribute!

  8. You know, I started out writing via poetry. One day, if I can ever get back to that frame of mind, maybe I will rediscover that sensibility.

    1. I did too Sandra, and moved away from it for awhile... or rather into other things.

I look forward to your writing as it is, if your muse wakes up and wants to dance through the edges of figurative languages with graceful steps, I will enjoy that too.

  13. This reminded me both of a past I had, and a past I never did. I had to read it several times just to gobble it all up, and it was delicious!

    1. Ah, thanks T :-) This one creates an image of a place that was part of my past, but it was not the street by which I named it ;-)
