Lillie - Trevor's Ride (100 Word Song)

This week's 100 Word Song challenge inspiration is Live's "Pain Lies on the Riverside" chosen for Lance and Leeroy by Eric from Sinistral Scribblings

Lillie's life was changed on the way to a friend's wedding, in ways she has yet to discover. This is a continuing story about Lillie through the 100 Word Song Challenge. Last weeks 100 words are here, and the story in its entirety can be found here.

Trevor wrapped Lillie up in the hospital blanket and carried her out of the room, down the long shiny hallway, out the door, and into his truck. He knew they would hear the beeps and buzzers going off any moment, so he tore out of the parking lot like his tires were on fire.

"Don't worry Lillie, everything will be alright. I'm taking you to that little place where we used to go to get high, you know, the one by the river. Maybe where something is familiar…" his voice trailed off as the edge of the river greeted them.

  1. Oh, how we should all have a Trevor in our lives - someone who loves us so much as to do something totally irresponsbile and possibly even stupid, just to ease our pain.

I feel your Lillie and my *still???* unnamed character growing closer together. And I like that.

    1. It would be wonderful indeed to have a "Trevor," though it's too bad that he didn't tell her before now. ;-)

It's an interesting mingling, perhaps they will meet one day.

  2. How desperate (or in love) do you have to be to steal somebody from a hospital? (I assume)

    1. Yes Eric, he did "steal" her from the hospital, and there is a desperation in his actions that is undeniable. He wants her to wake up, and thinks that she will down by the river.

  3. You can feel his desperation, and need to ease her pain.

    1. I'm glad Tara. I had no idea how hard it was going to be to write a continuing story in only 100 word chunks. I'm glad the emotions are prevalent.

  4. It's rather unfair of you to only give us 100 words at a time. I work for Trevor, what happens if it all goes pear shape and he is left alone, will it break him, will he change, how will he cope. Hanging on for the next installment.

    1. You are a gem Brenda. When did Trevor hire you? Wow, I didn't realize that you two knew each other so well, but that just means you know that no matter what happens Trevor will change, or morph to adapt to the circumstances.

  6. K- I connected with his story, no hiring required.. Yes, I know all too well he will change, but the romantic in me is always hopeful.

  7. I love this switch from Lillie's POV to Trevor's. We're getting a clear picture of his desperation, his need to make things right. He's impulsive and determined.

    1. Thanks for reading Carrie. The POV is omniscient, but Lillie is asleep right now, and cannot think, or speak in the state she is in. He must be the one to show the way, especially in 100 words a shot :-) He is many things when it comes to his heart, and Lillie is a big part of that real estate. Thank you again, it's great to have you reading.

  8. This was so vivid, I could identify so much with his want to wake her at any cost, desperation is certainly the right word. Great job!

    1. Thank you Jenna... desperation can invoke many things... change is one of them.
